Rods of Ra - Guidelines and Suggestions For Experimental Use

The Rods of Ra are based on the two polarities of energy known as the "BA" and the "KA" in Egypt, or the Yin and Yang in the Eastern Traditions. The use of the Rods of Ra attempt to balance these two energies by recharging nervous energy. In ancient Egypt, this technique was used for the strengthening and restoration of currents of energy within the body. The two Rods, when clasped in the hands of standing figures, were the grips of tremendous power, akin to electricity (secondary electricity), which when the grips were held in the hand released this energy into the body, to be stored in unipolar ganglias, and spinal fluid, raising the potential of energy 100% and lasting for a period of 24 hours.

The "KA" is considered to be the essential ingredient or dimension that differentiates a living person from a dead one. Difficult to directly translate, possibly one of the most concise interpretations is "life force" or "sustenance". The "KA" is represented in hieroglyphs by a pair of arms pointing upwards.

The "BA" is considered to be an individual's distinctive manifestation, similar to our concept of personality in that it comprised all of the non-physical attributes which make each human being unique.

The COPPER Rod (KA, Male Energy) represents the Sun and is the Rod of Power and is always held in the RIGHT hand. The RIGHT side of the body is considered to be positively charged.

The ZINC Rod (BA, Female Energy) represents the Moon and is always held in the LEFT hand. The LEFT side of the body is considered to be negatively charged.

Insert the vial containing the purified coal into the Copper Rod and replace the cap. The Copper Rod will always be held in the right hand.

Coal is always used in the Copper Rod and is never substituted with other materials.

The Zinc Rod can contain a variety of fillings such as quartz crystal (as shown at right) depending upon the intended use.

The standard configuration is to place the two iron/ferrite rods into the chamber of the Zinc Rod and replace the cap.

Types of Fillings and Their Uses

Coal Coal is always used in the Copper Rod
Ferromagnetic or Ferrite Basic material used in the Zinc Rod. Used for general energy work and initiating the movement of energy through the nervous system. Has also been found to promote healthier and deeper sleep patterns.
Quartz Crystal Quartz crystals can be used to amplify both body energy and thoughts. They can assist in the creation of power and can provide for clarity in thinking to enable thoughts to more effectively influence matter. Quartz is said to bring the energy of the stars into the soul. The quartz crystal is the connection between the physical dimension and the dimensions of the mind. It can be used to communicate with minerals, plants, animals, and intelligent forces outside the physical dimension. It can also be used to transform thoughts into sound, producing the vibration associated with the thought and affecting the environment with the discharged energy. Quartz crystals can be used to clear and to activate the energy centers of the body. It attunes well to the heart chakra and responds very well at the third-eye (or brow) chakra.
Amethyst Crystal Amethyst is a "stone of spirituality and contentment". It facilitates transmutation of lower energies into the higher frequencies of both the spiritual and etheral levels. It is a representative of the principals of complete metamorphosis. It balances the energies of the intellectual, emotional, and physical bodies and provides a clear connection between the Earth plane and the other worlds. It clears the aura and stabilizes and transmutes any dysfunctional energy located within ones body. Amethyst also bestows stability, strength, invigoration, and peace; the peace being the perfect peace which was present prior to birth. It is also a "stone of meditation", being excellent in conducting the energy of calm and peacefulness to help one to both enter and maintain the state. It opens and activates the crown chakra.
Hematite Cultures have long associated Hematite with blood because of the deep red color of its streak. The root of the name Hematite is the Greek word for blood, haima. This has given rise to much of the healing myths that surround Hematite today.

Mineral and crystal healers associate Hematite with blood and use it in their rituals for treating blood-related illnesses such as hemophilia, anemia, heart, kidney and liver diseases, cardio-vascular weakness, menstrual cramps, and nose bleeds. They also recommend it for use in treating the stress of jet lag, birth and surgery, tumors, insomnia, leg cramps, nervous disorders and fevers. Hematite was also a Native American remedy for dental problems, pimples, canker sores and alcohol abuse.

Crystal healers credit Hematite with the ability to bring about a calm mental state, improve memory, mental focus and concentration, bolster self-confidence, and increase the effectiveness of logical processes of the brain. Considered by followers of the New Age to be an excellent stone for treating mental stress, Hematite has a reputation for helping people bring order to mentally chaotic situations by drawing tension out of the body, neutralizing negativity and releasing anger. They also recognize its power for increasing mental function and believe it can improve memory, mathematical processes, logic, creativity and mental dexterity. Finally, it is an excellent aid in meditation, recognized by healers for calming the mental state, tuning the consciousness and increasing the pathways that lead to inner knowledge.

Mixed Minerals The mixed mineral filling is a good choice for enhancing mental capability. The mixture provides for a calming atmosphere, and, in addition, encourages one to "reach for the sun". It helps one to realize that the only limitations which exist are those self-limiting concepts within the mind.
Neodymium Magnet The cylindrical neodymium magnet filling radiates a soothing energy. Many researchers believe that magnets may help sleep patterns, relieve pain, improve circulation and increase the amount of oxygen in the bloodstream.
Magnetite Magnetite crystallizes in the form of crusts, grains, octahedral and rhombdodecahedral crystals, granular masses, and dendrites. It is strongly magnetic and possesses polarity attributes in the form called lodestone. This mineral temporarily aligns the chakras, the subtle bodies, and the meridians of the physical and etheric bodies. It can be used to dispel grief, fear, anger, and attachment. Magnetite provides for a connection between the user and the nurturing aspects of the Earth, facilitating grounding and balancing between those bodies. It can help one to "attract" the healing energies necessary for recovery from disorders.

Before you begin using the Rods of Ra, we recommend that you wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water, paying special attention to scrubbing the palms and fingers to remove all dirt and oil. The hands should be "squeaky" clean. It is also helpful not to dry the hands after washing, but rather, leave them wet which greatly increases conductivity. Many advanced users soak their hands in a tub of light saline "sole" solution, made with mineral sea salt, for approximately a minute after washing their hands and prior to using the Rods. Again, the hands are not dried, but left wet which vastly increases conductivity.

It is best to drink eight to ten glasses of water each day when working with the Rods. The Rods work best when used in nature, standing or walking barefoot on the earth or in shallow sea water along a beach. They can be used while standing, walking, sitting, or lying down. Many researchers find that using the Rods while taking a mineral salt bath will greatly amplify the positive effects.

Using the Rods of Ra around computers, televisions or other electronic equipment is not recommended. The most common position is the "Master Position" which is a strong stance of power with the left foot forward, looking straight ahead, with the arms extended downward at each side. We also believe that the Egyptians used the Rods as a catalyst while performing a ritual of "Solar Healing" or "Sun Gazing". You can read more about the practice of sun gazing HERE.

Normally, both Rods are used, but in special circumstances it is possible to use just ONE Rod in order to assist in balancing out a particular energy. The figure below illustrates this principle:

The male figure to the right appears to have an excess of Yin, or feminine energy which sometimes leads to an imbalance of hormones and glandular function.

In this case, he is in the classic "sitting position", holding the copper (male/Yang) sun Rod in the right hand for the purpose of re-balancing the hormonal system. Later, as the hormonal system comes back into balance, he can once again begin to use both Rods.

Additional Fillings

You may substitute any of the other various filling vials included with the Rods of Ra Set in the chamber of the Zinc (Moon) Rod. These fillings may include the quartz crystal vial, amethyst crystal vial, gemstone assortment vial, or the high-power cylindrical neodymium magnet. You my also load other materials or liquids such as energized water into any of the additional vials for placement into the Zinc Rod.

*Note: Both the Copper and Zinc Rods will become tarnished very soon after use. This is normal, however, if you wish to polish them, we recommend rubbing them with Scotch-Brite pads. Also, any good quality metal polish will work. The Rods should NEVER be covered or painted with any kind of coating or lacquer.
